The other day I had 2 appointments that got cancelled last minute.
I had gotten up early, gotten dressed, ready and out the door, only to find out my first meeting had been cancelled.
I had this knee-jerk reaction of anger and disappointment.
I felt like another person's decision to cancel was dictating my day, and now my morning was thrown off.
It felt bad.
I felt bad.
Then I literally and figuratively woke up a little bit.
I realized there was an entirely different way I could be thinking about things: one that was actually new, fresh, meaningful and allowed ME to take my day back into my own hands.
With all the other experiences I would have that day...
Making THIS more empowered choice >>
I think sometimes as service-providers we can feel like we need to compromise who we are in order to make our business "work."
Like, to attract the right clients.
Or put out the right marketing.
Or have successful sales calls.
We need to create this totally different persona that leaves us feeling less than authentic.
The catch is, when you're engaged in a sales conversation...
Or creating a video...
Or writing something that doesn't feel authentic or YOU...
Estée Lauder once said, "I've never worked a day in my life without selling. If I believe in something I sell it, and sell it hard."
If you're like "that's cool and all Estée, but you own a gazillion dollar company & I'm over here in just trying to intelligently respond to objections…" then read on sweet friend.
I used to hate, hate, HATE selling, sales, and anything that required me sharing the price of my program.
Even though I read everything I could get my hands on about 'closing the sale' and 'properly pricing your program' it seems like I'd always end the sales call simply crossing my fingers and hoping that "this time" something went right.
What I realized is this:
The secret behind sales isn't learning yet another way to respond to objections or communicate the value of your program.
The secret comes down to >>
It's official! Mike and I officially moved to Hoboken.
Are there boxes everywhere? Yep!
Do I have zero idea how to get to the grocery store? Checkity, check!
But...it's the best disarray I could possibly ask for.
Our apartment is spacious and airy and bright, and it feels so good to be in.
Aighttt, let me get to the point!
I want to share this video with you about how to get out of your own way and enroll paying clients.
My love! Here's what's up.
Let's talk social media and you.
Social media: the Facebooking, Instagramming, LinkedIn-ing...it can feel like a tough nut to crack.
Like -- how do people really leverage social media to connect with real, awesome, clients who are in need of their services?
Putting strategy aside for point 2, if we really think about it, social media is your key into thousands, millions of people.
Millions!
And the fact that you have something special to offer, added to your ability to reach people you never would've imagined?
The possibilities are endless. Truly endless and real.
But let's be honest. With everything you already have on your plate in trying to get your business up and running, and bringing on clients, where do you start?
And how?
You! My friend. Have got that something special.
Can we just pause for a second to please remember that?
The passion you possess for seeing others rise and overcome.
The vision that you have for helping people grow and shift.
And a true, TRUE desire to help people.
I am guessing that you already know in your heart that helping, coaching, healing: it’s what you’re meant to do and who you’re meant to be.
Likely, because you’ve been doing it for as long as you remember!
It probably feels super natural because it’s just this innate part of you.
That said, I know that there’s this challenge that so many of us inspired, heart-centered women (and men) face all the time.
I know it, because I faced it too.
The extreme desire to coach…but no clients to coach!
Today, my husband Mike and I are going to look for couches for our new apartment in Hoboken!
Being from Chicago, I never thought I'd hear myself say I'm moving to New Jersey (...but lesson learned....never say NEVER)!
Anywho!
As we're moving, we've been getting rid of old stuff that just doesn't feel GOOD anymore.
And I've been thinking about the idea of starting fresh - and what that really means.
I realized that acquiring things that simply feel GOOD - AKA our new couch, also requires actually recognizing and getting rid of what doesn't work.
And doing something about it.
That includes things you're perhaps inadvertently saying "yes" to, even though you don't really want them.
I'm talking thoughts, ideas, people, even identities that need to be shed in order to move into something bigger.
Better.
More connected to the truth of who you REALLY are.
Marketing.
What feelings does that word elicit in you, friend?
If it's "uncertainty about how and when I market" or "it feels sleazy"...do not stress.
So many of us coaches (or entrepreneurs with a beating heart!) who are truly focused on helping others have struggled at one time or another with the feelings of worry about being "salesy" or simply "not 'good' at writing"
In fact, something I hear all the time from clients is just that.
They’re scared of being too markety… feeling like they’re pushing something inauthentic onto people...
They’re plagued by the idea that when they start speaking to their ideal client, it feels sleazy or icky.
Or simply feeling like they're not saying the "right" thing in the "right" way.
Sound familiar?
We’ve all been there …
You’re a brand new coach, just starting your business, and you’re concerned.
Maybe plagued by the feeling that because you’re new, people won’t take you seriously?
Maybe you've been wondering: What’s unique about me? Why would people want to work with someone so new?
These questions? They come with a good ol' side of self-doubt and the fear you’ll come off as a fraud.
Here's the best news ever though....
Being a coach, you know that attracting clients is necessary to growing your business. But, for so many of us it can be one of the most nerve-wracking things to do.
There’s self-doubt that makes you question how to present yourself, what you say, or how you’re perceived by others...
There’s information out there that makes you believe that you have to do certain things to attract clients--that you have to have all your ducks in a row….
And, as a recovering perfectionist, I know: It’s tempting to attempt to make sure everything is in order and perfect before you get yourself to make those connections that bring clients your way....
Well friend, I’ve got news for you!
